Chances are slim. 可能性不大。
Slim是“苗条的、清瘦的”的意思，但在这里表示“可能性小”。如你和同学迟到了，想偷着溜到座位上去，同学问你是否能逃过老师的眼睛，这时你就可以说Chances are slim.

Situational Dialogue 1
A: How hopeful are you of playing some part on Thursday?
B: Chances are slim.

Situational Dialogue 2
A: Do you think you could win this game?
B: Chances are slim.

Situational Dialogue 3
A: What are the chances of getting a raise this year?
B: Chances are slim.
